FAQ for Valparaiso Branch Closing
1. When is the Valparaiso branch closing?
The Valparaiso branch will move to teller and drive-through service only on September 29, 2025, and will permanently close on November 14, 2025.
2. Why is the Valparaiso branch closing?
The location no longer meets our operational needs.
3. Will the ATM at the Valparaiso branch still be available?
Yes, the ATM at the Valparaiso branch will remain available for the time being. In addition, Allegius members have access to thousands of surcharge-free ATMs nationwide through the CO-OP Network.
4. Why is the lobby staying open?
We realize downtown traffic can be difficult to navigate and you may not always park near the branch or you live downtown and walk to us. We want our members to continue to enjoy the personal, in-branch service they have come to love until the branch closure.
5. Where is the nearest Allegius branch?
You can visit our branches in Burns Harbor, Michigan City, and Hobart.
6. What is Shared Branching, and how does it work?
Through our partnership with the Shared Branch network, Allegius members can conduct transactions at thousands of participating credit unions nationwide — just as if they were at an Allegius branch.
7. Can I still get the same services through online or mobile banking?
Yes! With Allegius Digital Banking, you can:
- Deposit checks with Mobile Check Deposit
- Transfer funds between accounts
- Pay bills and loans
- Monitor your balance and transactions anytime, anywhere.
8. What happens to my accounts, checks, and debit/credit cards?
Your accounts and cards are not affected by the Valparaiso branch closure. You may continue to use them as you always have.
9. What is happening to the staff from the Valparaiso branch?
Our staff remain part of the Allegius family, and you may see familiar faces at our other locations.
10. What products or services would you like to see Allegius offer in the future?
