May has finally arrived, and with it arrives festival season! Did you know that there are some fun and unique festivals right here in northern Indiana? Check out a few of these fun events coming up this month and plan to take a road trip to experience them in person.

Indianapolis 500 Festival – month of May

This one is the granddaddy of all May Indiana events, and it’s a short drive to Indianapolis to experience all the grandeur surrounding the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. Mayfest in Shipshewana – May 6-7

Indiana Dunes Birding Festival – May 12-15

The Indiana Dunes Birding Festival is an annual event hosted by the Indiana Audobon Society that showcases the abundance of migratory birds in the Indiana Dunes. With its rich biodiversity, varying habitats, and miles of Lake Michigan shoreline, the Indiana Dunes is a hotspot for birds. Chesterton Wizard of Oz Days – May 13-15

Kendallville Tristate Bluegrass Festival – May 26-29
